A Division of the LITTLE LEAGUE Baseball Program



Challenger Little League was formed in Calgary in 1989 to provide physically and developmentally challenged children and young adults ages 5 and up an opportunity to play baseball.


The league stresses the basics of ball with the primary purpose of having fun, exercise for each player and the experience of being part of a team regardless of skill level or ability.


The Challenger Little League of Calgary helps to establish strong bonds of friendship and understanding between Little League teams in Calgary and surrounding areas in an atmosphere of sharing and caring. 


In Challenger games, Little League “buddies” help their challenged partners catch, throw, field and get around the bases when necessary. 


This interaction has proven to be a positive experience for all the children involved as Challenger players enjoy the thrill of participation and their “buddies” experience first-hand the challenges these individuals face in their daily lives. 


Being involved with Challenger Little League provides socialization benefits of participating in sports, the strengthening of participants' self-esteem, and the disciplines of teamwork, and sportsmanship.


Lighter weight bats and balls are used; t-ball stand can be used.  Teams are divided into various age groups and each game is approximately one hour long. 


This is a very affordable recreational activity. 


Each player receives a team jersey and hat. 


Professional photographs are taken and each participant receives an individual and team photo. 


A trophy is presented to each participant at the final game of the season.
